Then i met up with my buddy Robert and we explored the “National Mall” in DC. All those monuments look so much cooler in the movies when they’re not crawling with sunburnt tourists.

The Great Pacific Trash Pile – (The Pacific Gyre) Today I was going to post a picture of the wedding inspiration board  made by using the Dessy/Pantone site from yesterday’s post, however, I seem to lack the skills to transfer the design board from that site to here. I found another wedding design site to write about tomorrow. In the meantime – anytime is a good time to think about ways to recycle trash – especially the plastic bottles that end up in the pacific gyre, a mass of trash double the size of Texas that exists in the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and California

Jump to the full entry & travel map Phuket, Phuket, Thailand well the feet are tired today …3 hours around Phuket just looking. feelin and listening…best way actually to see stuff….I think my reports have been misleading in that I missed telling anything about Malaysia…not sure…the food was great…met some interesting people….stayed on Langkawi too long b ut that was mostly the drink as I am quite lazy in the morning and the pressing heat adds to it……phuket now and rather than ‘head to the beach’, Im opted for old town Phuket and last night went for a walk and ended up in a snug little bar watching Formula one and talking to other travelers and it was quite relaxing after all the beaches where it is just resort after resort……no neat little pubs hid a way where a weary traveler’s can commiserate about there ordeal and good times….. Thai food thus far has not been that exciting..(except Krabi night markets!)..really outside of always having to ask to make it spicier, the main flavor is broth cilantro and well that is pretty much it…..I hear and hope that Vietnam food, especially street food is a treat…….for some reason I have been saving my ‘relaxed time ‘ for vietnam , as if all the travel thus far is leading up to relaxing there…..yeah right!..

Jump to the full entry & travel map Phobjekha Valley, Wangdi Phodrang, Bhutan The drive to the Phobjekha Valley was along a windy mountainside road, where we were stopped for about 30 minutes due to road construction. Road construction may be a slight understatement, as it appeared the entire mountainside was being torn apart to rebuild the road. Due to someone’s misfortune, an ambulance was coming from the other direction which sped up the roadworks allowing vehicles to pass; otherwise we may have been there for much longer

Jump to the full entry & travel map London, England, United Kingdom Getting our bags off the carousel we noticed that the handle on my brand new case was smashed. So off to report it, they said they would get it repairs and back to us in about two weeks. No good we said, So after a whole lot of huffing and puffing they told us that they had a store of bags “around the back” for people like us to be able to choose from (by “people like us” read, grumpy, assertive, refuse to budge, difficult to get on with people)

Jump to the full entry & travel map Perth, Western Australia, Australia Penguin Island was amazing! I’m so glad I decided to do it! I spent the night at Courtney’s house – her host mom invited all of us (me, the other Natalie, Sadie, and Katherine) to spend the night at her house and then we could all go to the train station together the next morning. So we made sushi – not my favorite, but it was fun making it. It was nice to get to spend time with a smaller group of girls, all of whom I can enjoy being around which is a plus.

Jump to the full entry & travel map London, London, City of, United Kingdom Preparing for this trip turned out to be much more difficult and should have involved more planning that I actually put into it. I switched suitcases at least 3 times before finally settling on a huge red duffle bag my family named “big red”, which ended up weighing about 67 pounds, not to mention the other suitcase I was taking for England. The travelers, my mom, Anne Atwood and Preston Gomer, met up at my dad’s office to make our way to Dulles for our flight

After a nice breakfast in our rooms we made our way downstairs to meet our guide Lisa Stokes to take us around London to different home and decorating stores. Our first stop was Few and Far where we saw some great pieces, my favorite was a woven wicker table. The next place was B & B Italia, which had great innovative furniture, including a life size black horse with a lamp attached to his head and lots of great artwork like the pantone color square piece.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Mai Sai, Chiang Mai, Thailand Day 3, Therd Thai to Mae Sai After a relaxing nights sleep, with karaoke tunes still playing in my head, we hit the road bound for another town and adventures to look forward to. The road to Mae Sai is windy and steep just as they all are in the mountains. Where the scenery blows your mind and the culture beams with its own unique blend of charisma and character, I had the privilege of visiting another of the many treasures of northern Thailand: the Doi Tung villa.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France Visited a Cognac distillery in the town of Cognac itself. Interesting to see how they do it and to visit the very town it all comes from; the fumes were enough for me. The main point to come across however is that Cognac is simply brandy that comes from the Cognac region and is produced by a slightly different process.
