But God love her, she went one better for the Met Costume Institute Gala 2010 , bucking the traditional long, feminine gowns in favor of — wait for it — a strapless, zip-up jumpsuit by Yves Saint Laurent . The blue jumpsuit itself is pretty hot as jumpsuits go, with a slight sheen, front pleats and a black bow closure at the top of a zipped-down-to-there bustline

Check out the selection offered up recently in the LA Times (at left). That’s some classy shit! That’s some almost-too-classy-to-lose-your-v-card shit, taking away the true meaning of prom… But seriously. I remember the whole prom dress game, but for me, I’m pleased to report that it ended quite well.

Photos: Getty Images In keeping with the unseasonably warm weather in New York of late, a handful of celebrities walking the red carpet at the Met Costume Institute Gala decided to add (or, really, subtract) both a sexy and functional touch to their floor-skimming ball gowns by doing away with the backs all together! Zoe Saldana , Kate Bosworth and Margherita Missoni and all sported elegant gowns, which revealed entirely exposed backs once the ladies did a little turn.

Have you heard the news?  Steven and I have gotten involved in the management of the annual Cooperstown Antique Show!  We are very excited, and a tiny bit overwhelmed because honestly we didn’t have time for one more project.  But if this is a totally crazy move, please don’t tell us.  We are happy with our delusions. This is a one-day antique show, always held on the Sunday closest to the 4th of July, which this year happens to be … the 4th of July!  This will be the 48th year that this show has been held, so it comes with a rich history.  In recent years it had begun to wane somewhat, as lots of shows have, with dealer numbers down a little each year.  But we are hoping to turn that trend around in the next year or two, and bring back the energy and excitement that used to be there

I always think of it as the month of emeralds, and the emerald is truly an appropriate birthstone for May
