Our dining table and chairs finally arrived today, just after noon. And they look fabulous! We didn’t get any of the ornamented chairs (with wrought iron), but we decided that’s okay, because it looks better with all the chairs matching. When I saw how all the pieces were packed in the van, I was very glad that we hadn’t rented a van and driven up there to get them ourselves.

I absolutely love simplicity especially in the form of organic minimalism, and am ecstatic to announce a new artist to Ashes & Milk who really captures the essence of this aesthetic. Eunice Kim creates exquisitely saturated black and white collagraph prints onto chine collé paper. She delicately places each mark by hand to form an intimate map of cellular structures.

Actually we’ve had rather a lot of snow here in the Washington, D.C., Arlington area! I am loving it! The federal government has been closed for the third day in a row, and will be closed tomorrow. For the first time today, I looked out and saw that the major streets I live on had not been cleared – still haven’t. We’re approaching the record of, I believe, 35 inches that was set in 1899 for D.C

Excerpt from:
Yes, We’ve Had Some Snow!

What else is there to do on a snow blizzard day then to stay inside and draw all day. I made this caricaturish self portrait after finishing the landscape sketch so I decided to revise this post and add this drawing. Yes…for those who knew my pictures before, I am this thin now

Again I was lukcy that all the practical details worked out so I could attend this year’s Flemish Primitives in Brugge. For some one who’s not attended, it’s not so easy to grasp the concept and ideas behind The Flemish Primitives (TFP)

Posted by freelance: There comes a point on one’s lifetime that he/she feels that he/she has already mastered an art so much that he is just not contented with self-satisfaction anymore. “Well, it’s about having a modern point of view, together with a love of things historical. I have an interest in modern things, but I don’t like them being forced into a minimal style that is called ‘modern’.

Most people think they should wear red on February 14th, for that terrible, horrible, no good, very bad, Hallmark holiday (flowers that were never delivered two years ago, a boyfriend who neglected to call last year…I have the right to be bitter, ok?). Really, there is a much better reason to dress in crimson and we should do it this Friday, February 5th. National Wear Red Day is an effort to promote awareness of women’s heart disease and heart health .

Jump to the full entry & travel map Thekkady, Kerala, India Slightly disappointingly, its a bog standard small hatchback which picks me up at 6.30am today. I am surprised to see that Vishal from Kalypso who will be accompanying me on a 4 day trip inland, is not driving and infact we have our own driver, again a luxury never afforded on a recce before! Our first stop is an elephant rehabilitation and training centre 2 hours outside of the city. I am expecting hoards of camera clicking tourists for the daily spectacle of elephant washing in the river, but I am pleasantly surprised to find only small group there
