Lima was a fleeting day visit, it was much bigger and more modern than anything we saw in Ecuador we had some great seafood, walked along the clifftops and Peter got a much needed haircut (as i was the interpreter I was v tempted to tell them to give him a No1 all over)

The general pattern went a bit like this: Arrive around 5 pm and step tentatively into the lobby Ask about vacancies in halting Spanish Follow someone from the hotel back to see a room Exhausted and covered in more dried sweat than a daytime hooker heading home in rush hour they would spot us sprawled in hammock-ville, blissfully half-awake, and their eyes would remain glued in our direction even as their bodies hastened toward the room.

After breakfast we waited in the Queen’s Lounge for our excursion to be called and were amongst the first off the ship, with the bureaucracy from the port taking time to set up downstairs

But after a couple of hours, and a particularly dirty cabinet, it became obvious that we needed another night. With the pressure off, we took a break at lunchtime and went out to drop documents at the insurers, collect our wheel cover that we ordered a fortnight ago and pick up a new oil drain plug as the one that was fitted doesn’t fit very well! Chip also appears to have a rear brake binding, as when we brake there is an awful knocking noise coming from one of the rear wheels.

There was too much oil in the engine; one of the wheels hadn’t been secured properly; the water pump leaked when we filled the tank; the bed/seat wasn’t fitted back in properly; all the moving parts needed greasing; and there were screws missing from everywhere, most of which we found under the lino or in the cutlery drawer! And cleaning, lots of cleaning and scrubbing. All in all, 14 hours of cleaning and fixing until we lost the light around 8.30pm and couldn’t see to do any more

After successfully boarding the train for a two hour ride to Arezzo (Rome’s Stationale Termini was a challenge!), we arrived at our new digs “Casa San Martino”. After a confusing discussion with some older Italian ladies where none of knew what the other were saying, we were greeted by our host Ricardo.This apartment is in theancient Etruscan town of Arezzo, population of 100,000 about 80km south east of Florence and dates back to around 300BC. According to Ricardo who is the owner and an architect, this apartment is 537 years old and was restored by him several years ago.The floors are quite creaky (wouldn’t you be after 500 odd years?) but the rooms are like one of the museums we have visited.

Up in cape trib there are famous birds (like ostriches) called casowarries-they are only found in oz and in this part of oz and are becomming extinct so really endangered.

Back home, we normally see the parrots in either at the Jurong Bird Park or the Pet shop, while the parrots here can fly freely anywhere! 1000: We left the resort for our adventure! On the way, we saw horses almost on every green pasture! 1105 to 1120: Arrival at Narooma Surf Beach Reserve, the ocean view was breathtaking! But there is a swamp on the beach which is quite strange! We stayed awhile then off we go. 1145: Brunch at Casey’s Cafe. Look at our brunch photos! Yummy! 1230: Left to Central Tilba
