I visited my BFF on the Eastern Shore this past weekend…and can we say RAINNNN [& freezing]!!! We still managed to have fun & catch up on the good times. Although I was unable to take pics on Saturday, I did manage to make a few stops on my way back home in Easton, MD . Ughhh, I dread driving through that town because the cops are mean & pull everyone over! (I got my first speeding ticket there) However, I got off the main road and heading to the historic district…I LOVE QUAINT, LITTLE TOWNS! Note to self: pack warm gloves in camera bag no matter what

Jump to the full entry & travel map Khorog, Gorno-Badakhshan, Tajikistan (Sim) It was about 8am when we arrived in Khorog and the first thing that struck us about the town was its size. Khorog is the capital of the autonomous Gorno-Badakhshan (GBAO) region (for which you must have a special visa to visit) and is also the main hub in the south of Tajikistan where tourists tend to organise transport, food, guides etc, yet to our surprise Khorog felt like small sleepy country town that would take a few hours, at most, to navigate. Khorog suffered badly during Tajikistan’s independence from Russia in 1991 and when the money supply dried up completely Khorog reverted to barter

Step 1 The first step to installing a memory card to a specific device is to check the type of memory card that it supports including the maximum capacity that it can read. Usually, older models of digital devices are limited to hosting lower capacity versions of memory cards

Jump to the full entry & travel map Changzhou, Jiangsu, China GPS navigation systems use a small receiver inside your dashboard unit. This receiver picks up signals from a minimum of three satellites orbiting the earth; the triangulation method. Much like navigators used in the days before technology, your system “triangulates” your position based on the intersecting point of circles that represents the distance from each satellite in relation to where your unit is.

We can take a lot more pictures at much lower cost with digital cameras versus film cameras. We can also more easily manipulate and share those photos since they’re all in the digital realm.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Dushanbe, Tajikistan (Jim) It was after 9pm when we finally arrived in Dushanbe, or at least the extreme outskirts of Dushanbe – once again our taxi driver had decided that the deal we had exhaustively negotiated the day before had a clause in it that allowed him to renegotiate once bargaining conditions were stacked more in his favour. All we expected was to be dropped somewhere central, or at least somewhere with OK taxi options, but after driving for 8 bone-jarring hours our driver decided that he wanted to save on 10 minutes time and about 10 cents of petrol.

After a couple of hours sleep we spent most of the morning playing around in the pool at our hostel with the boys from the clipper, the usual things lads get up to in the pool especially when theirs a pole in the middle to joust across and volleyball court. We had a lot of laughs at Tim the lad who had his arm in cast because he didn’t want to be left out went and stuck a plastic bag over his arm and jumped in the pool to play volleyball.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Bangkok, Thailand Hey whoever wants to read this shit, the story so far from the plane landing….well what can we say? For the first time Marcin experienced what it would have been like to be an illegal immigrant in BANGKOK!! Thai immigration services proved to be polski haters and whenever they heard the word Polish all they said or rather shouted was NO RETURN TICKET NO VISA!! It has turned out that Polish people or rather Marcin are required to have a return ticket within 15 days stay in Thailand. So after spending a million pounds or there abouts and the whole sleepless night at the airport we managed to escape what seemed like the Thai version of Alcatraz thanks to our friends (Buddha bless their souls) we managed to book tickets to Vietnam and so our plans unfold…wohooo!! We took the airport bus to what has turned out to be a backpackers mecca which in our opinion is a shithole called Khaosan Road…place full of chavtastic men wanting thai women and tuk tuk drivers wanting to take you for a ride (literally) to tailor and tourist information shops for which they get money for whilst over pricing us.

I received some samples of yummy-sounding natural sugar scrubs from a company called Simple Sugars .  The multiple flavors like Pomegranate and Coconut came in a beautiful package with great graphics and containers.  I started to flip through the background information about the company to find out how these products were made and I did a complete double take at the first paragraph…the founder is how old ?  Lani Lazzari, the creator of Simple Sugars’ all-natural handmade facial, body, and foot scrubs started the company when she was eleven years old !  Incredible! I love supporting small local companies that provide handmade products with a recognizable dose of personal care and attention…and a fun history.  Eleven-year old Lani made her first batch of skin products as holiday gifts for friends and relatives in 2005.  She created the products using all natural ingredients like pure cane sugar and natural oils because she had sensitive skin that reacted easily to the chemicals in most commercially-available products.  Everyone loved their gifts, so she decided to create Simple Sugars to offer the world her all-natural sugar scrubs.  Today the entire collection of deliciously-scented scrubs are concocted in the former craft room at the Lazzari house! The best part about the Simple Sugars are the scents!  The body and facial scrubs come in a wide variety of natural scents that include pomegranate, coffee, green tea, almond, lime, and lavender.  I accidentally spilled the Coconut scrub all over my bathroom counter and it smelled delicious for days!  There is definitely a refreshingly homemade touch to the Simple Sugars with hand-written expiration dates and little plastic spoons that come with the scrubs so you can stir them up before using them.  These elements remind me how fresh and handmade these products are, which is really quite a nice change from the commercially produced products available at the drugstore. Visit the Simple Sugars website to find out more about Lani’s story and order from the wide selection of facial and body scrubs.  I especially love the gift baskets ! Post from: Splendicity . Dior brought the film Noir look in their Fall / Winter 2010 collection that debuted in Paris about a month ago.  This trend has obviously been on the mind of many designers as Tom Binns has designed some amazing jewelry that would compliment a very tight pencil skirt, pin tucked hair, cat eyes and a Chanel bag (aka a Film Noir look). ShopBop The Dumont Noir Fluorescent Earrings are made of black crystals and include little rhodium dangle pieces that will definitely light up the room.

“Exclusion is as powerful as inclusion… The less imitation the more suggestion and hence more poetry.” As paintings move away from “specific detail, almost counterintuitively they gain not only the poetic appeal of suggestion over description but also a kind of specificity of place that persists despite (or exactly because of) the elimination of detail.” — Like Breath on Glass , p80. Or in fewer words: “Less makes for more poetic paintings.” See Also: • In the Style of Whistler Painting Project • Who was Whistler Anyway?

I have been on the hunt for affordable collar and statement necklaces since the summer!  Big flashy necklaces are such a great way to add excitement to an LBD or a casual T-shirt, skinny jeans, and flats combo.  The right necklace can instantly upgrade your outfit from boring to stylish. I just found some fabulous necklaces at French Connection that are completely affordable!  Big collar necklaces might not be in style forever, so it’s probably one of the items that I’m not going to splurge on this year. Image: French Connection French Connection Beaded Collar Necklace $58 This is exactly what I have been looking for!  This is a great collar necklace with a bold art deco design created from tiny beading and a ribbon tie fastener.  I love the mixture of cylinder and round beads and the incorporation of sequins and tiny blue stitching.  Style this with a simple outfit of neutral tones and you will look fabulous! Image: French Connection French Connection Multi Row Necklace $68 My second favorite at FC!  Many strands of tiny black glass beads with gold accent pieces make a simple yet beautiful piece that will look great against a light-colored backdrop.
