Our plan today was just to head across the border and get to Otavalo in Ecuador by sunset, we were just 2.5km from the border crossing. First, however, we wanted to look at the market in Ipiales, and off we went, having packed our bags and left them at the hotel.

The Paul & Joe Spring / Summer 2010 collection was a surprising change from the flashy metallic and over the top lines that have been shown over the past few days in Paris. The collection, which stays true to the understated color but yet still flamboyant styles, was fabulous.  Sophia Albou designed great staple pieces, including the trousers and blouses but the pieces I was drawn to included the over the shoulder handbags, the flowy skirts, and the subtle beauty of the models.  Here’s a sneak peak at what you’ll see come 2010… Zuma Press Check out that bag. Said goodbye to our new French pal Chantalle before getting on the bus to Sucre, about 11 hours away. We were not quite sure what to expect but we were not expecting the comfort we had gotten used to in Argentina that`s for sure

My classes this semester are not as challenging as I a used to but I figure I might as well enjoy it while it lasts because once I get to SXU I won’t have time to really enjoy the little things…At the same time I need to find the motivation to keep interest in one or two of them. It was a bit like going from Beijing to Xian – it was REAL India and such an amazing experience!! The roads/driving is ten times worse than China and we nearly got into a few different accidents, although Steve’s driver is amazing and has reflexes like you’ve never seen – we saw a few different accidents happen though. The worst one we came up behind – a car had hit a couple on a motorbike going like 80mph.

I love finding out about skin care lines that hail from foreign countries and cultures because they incorporate ideas and technologies that are probably commonplace in their country of origin, but in American they could be completely new.  French beauty line Cattier comes all the way from Paris, but is now available to U.S. customers exclusively from online natural and organic beauty store, Beautorium . We were prepared to go see the Mausoleum (where Ho Chi Minh is embalmed and in a glass coffin for everyone’s viewing pleasure) but got lost in the maze of streets because we forgot to bring the bigger map. But, did we get to see some side streets! Very narrow side streets – they build the houses here tall but they are also very narrow.

This morning we got up a little after 5 am in order to make it over to Lenin Park (marked by a giant statue of the former Soviet leader) where many Hanoi Vietnamese congregate in order to exercise. Though we read about this spectacle in our guide book, we were pleasantly impressed by the amount of men and women (mostly elderly and middle-aged) engaged in activities such as badminton, old school calisthenics stretching, tai chi aerobics, long range hackey sac, walking, and light jogging! Needless to say, we were intrigued by such a wonderfully socialist and social event! We did laps around Lenin Park taking in the view and witnessing Hanoi waking up. While running we couldn’t help but think that some of these men and women who looked around 60 could have actually been soldiers during what the Vietnamese obviously call the “American War.” And some of the Vietnamese who are in their 30s and 40s could easily be children of American soldiers.

Thought we better check r bags in nice and early and it was a good job! The women would not let us check in as flights to thailand indicated we were staying in the country for too long without a visa therefor we would be deported by immagration as soon as we landed there! having to que for about an hour while a 100 year old man chaged our flights to be legal! we finally got to check our bags in and say our tearfull goodbyes! we are now sat waiting to board the plane in 20 minutes time! more fun to continue!!!

I’ve got to admit it – I’m a sucker for a designer who doesn’t take their accessories too seriously! After all, what are accessories for if not to put a smile on your face when you wear them? We’ve got to start with Karl Lagerfeld ’s Spring & Summer 2010 collection for Chanel : Interesting carved heels, bright colors and check out the flowers on the handbag.  If that doesn’t brighten your day, I’m not quite sure what else would… Stella McCartney showed a more subdued collection, but check out the detail on this handbag: I don’t know how practical that folding wooden purse is going to be, but as a cool accessory – it gets full marks from me. One of my favorite steps in the many processes administered during a spa facial is the part where the aesthetician paints a thick mud mask on your face and when they take it off your skin just feels amazingly soft and moisturized.  I had the opportunity to try Auromere’s Rejuvenating Mud Bath & Mask and it is  like giving yourself a spa mud mask at home! Image: spratmackrel on Flickr The Auromere Mud Bath uses an acient Ayurveda recipe, which comes from “the holistic science in India which aims at a total harmony of Mind, Life, Body and Spirit in balance with nature’s rhythms and the world around us.”  The recipe has been passed down for generations and is created from 12 herbs and 4 kinds of clay that each have specific healing and rejuvenating properties. The Herbomineral Mud Math comes as a powder that you mix with water to create a thin mud paste.  You are provided with a little measuring spoon and the cap is used as the mixing bowl, so it is not too complicated.  The process is a little bit messy, though, so make sure that you have a washcloth that you don’t mind getting muddy and a spray bottle on hand before you start!  You can cover as much of your body as you would like with the herbomineral mud.  Massage the granular formula into your skin for a relaxing effect.  It feels pretty great on your skin!  Keep the mud moist while it is soaking in by spritzing with water every minute or so and then scrub off when you are finished.

BBC Photo Archives  http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/photoblog/2009/10/   Nostalgia.  I don’t know about you, but I could sit in photo archives for days, buried in old photographs and still be giddy with delight at the end of each day.  That’s where my love of photography begins.  Some photographer captured a moment in time and then that moment in time captured me.  My addiction or problem is that, it captures me over and over again…. the moment, that is.  It’s a different moment each time, but nonetheless, I’m captured…..hypnotic.  I really went off the cliff when I started doing photo restoration.  The simple action of restoring the proper levels, again, opens up an entire new world…. a world that is now gone….
